Judy and I collaborated on one of the most extraordinary weekend of parties in Florence, Italy, many years ago. A wedding with 200 guests was the raison d'être, as well as gatherings of some of the most accomplished notables from the worlds of academia to Hollywood. Every detail was meticulously planned.
When it came time to create the different menus for each of the gatherings taking place, I had a great time collaborating with a brilliant wine aficionado, Judy Beardsall, on what would be poured. We've been friends ever since. She has a talent that has helped me find delicious wines from small vineyards throughout Italy and France to my clients’ liking and for my own personal consumption. She’s since been making her own wine, Ananda di Toscana, a delicious wine with a touch of elegance.
Working with Judy and learning from her passion has been a tasty journey filled with the mystery of each wine’s special flavor.
If you’re thinking of collecting wines or serving a special wine for an occasion, Judy’s is the best.
Tips from Judy
Don't complicate the simple...Know what you like...Drink what you like...Cork it up!
In a restaurant, you may ask to have the bottle left on the table so that you can help yourself rather than waiting for the waiter to come around and top up your glass. Much more relaxed; you know how much you are drinking and you are not being "pushed" to drink more than you actually intended.
Always keep a bottle of bubbly in your refrigerator -- whether it's Dom Perignon or a sparkling wine from New Mexico -- there is something very sensual and festive about having that bottle of magic bubbles ready to pop at a moment's notice.
Advertised brands are not the way to go as they are marked up to support their marketing budget. Look for small, high quality labels which give real value for money.
Use wine not only for your drinking pleasure but also as an investment, knowing what to buy, where to buy it, and when to sell it.
